Joining instructions were emailed to delegates on 24 Aug 2017 around 2pm and are copied below for convenience. If you are a registered delegate and did not receive these, please check your spam folder. If you have any enquiries about your registration, please contact helpdesk@alt.ac.uk.

Please note:  For delegates traveling by train on Friday 1 or Monday 4 September Northern Rail have announced strike action. You can find more information on the Trainline website and on the Northern Rail website.


We look forward to welcoming you to ALT’s Annual Conference 2017. With a packed programme, ~450 participants from across the globe and social meetups to explore Liverpool we look forward to coming together as a community from across sectors. The hashtag for the event is #altc.

This email contains important information to help you make the most of your time at this year’s conference. Please read it carefully.

This is the largest programme the Annual Conference has seen in over five years, with over 200 sessions across 3 days and more than half of our participants contributing. It’s taken 18 months of planning led by the Conference Co-Chairs, Helen and Pete, support from our sponsors, exhibitors and supporters and many Members and volunteers to bring it together, but now it’s up to you to make the most of this year’s conference #altc.

Conference website and programme

The conference has a dedicated website https://altc.alt.ac.uk/2017/ and we encourage you to browse the conference timetable before attending at: https://altc.alt.ac.uk/2017/programme/.

At registration you will receive a printed Conference Programme Guide (preview as PDF) which includes session titles and other useful information.

The dedicated website also includes features to help you plan your conference and connect with other participants. The website is publicly accessible, to use the advanced features you need to login using your ALT Membership or conference registration credentials.  If you did not register yourself or don’t know your username you can request a new password/username at https://www.alt.ac.uk/user/password and if you are still stuck you can email helpdesk@alt.ac.uk.

Venue location and travel

The Annual Conference takes place at the University of Liverpool. The main campus is close to the city centre. You can find directions and travel information on the conference website at: https://altc.alt.ac.uk/2017/venue-and-travel-information/. Please note:  Northern Rail have announced strike action for 1 and 4 September. You can find more information on the Trainline website and on the Northern Rail website.

Accommodation

If you have booked accommodation on campus, you will be staying at Vine Court, 35 Myrtle St, Liverpool L7 7AJ, UK. Check in is open 24-hours and you can store luggage at the accommodation upon arrival. Breakfast for those staying in onsite accommodation is served from 07.30 to 09.00 in Vine Court restaurant.

Registration and pre-conference activities

The Registration Desk in the Exhibition Hall within the University of Liverpool Sports Centre. Early registration will be open from 17.00 to 19.30 on Monday 4 September. Registration is open from  09.00am during the conference. Please wear your badge throughout the conference (you are liable to be challenged by conference helpers, University staff, or ALT personnel if you do not wear it).

Getting connected at #altc – WiFi details

If you are visiting from an institution that participates in the eduroam service, you can log in to the secure eduroam WiFi service using your usual username and password. If you require further information or support you should contact your own IT helpdesk. A WiFi guest service is also available and details for connecting are in the Programme Guide which you will receive at registration.

Mobility or other requirements

Liverpool University is fully accessible by wheelchair users. If you have not previously notified us of any mobility, sensory, or access requirements, please contact a member of the conference team as soon as possible.

Code of conduct

ALT is dedicated to providing a harassment free conference experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form and we ask you to be courteous and considerate to your fellow attendees. We appreciate you may not agree with the ideas or views expressed by others and whilst we encourage debate we remind you that these discussions should remain civilised. By attending this event you are also bound by the regulations and code of conduct of the venue. Participants violating any of these rules will be expelled from the event without refund.
