Description
Gasta means “fast, clever, quick, smart” and in that spirit this session will involve active participation from everyone in the audience as well as 5 invited speakers giving their Gasta for 5 minutes each.
Gasta 1: Debbie Baff
Debbie Baff Senior Academic Developer – my GASTA will share some of my favourite experiences from this years conference and tell you why I love being part of ALT !

From Little Acorns Grow: Fruitful Collaborations Yielding Bountiful Engagements – The purpose of TEL professional bodies is to support and foster the needs of their members. In changing and uncertain times, it makes sense for national professional bodies to look over the garden fence in order to: (1) see how their neighbours are dealing with common issues; (2) gain insights into respective adopted strategies; and (3) explore possible synergies that can lead to exciting engagements.
This GASTA highlights recent engagements between global multi-national professional bodies such as ALT (UK), ASCILITE (Australasia), the Online Learning Consortium (US) and the Irish Learning Technology Association that seek to progress the wider technology-enhanced learning community.
Gasta 3: Clint Lalonde
As a child did you dream of a future as a Learning Technologist? Neither did I. But, here I am, 25 years into my career as an Educational Technologist (and current Manager of Educational Technologies for BCcampus in British Columbia, Canada) and enjoying every minute of it. My gasta will focus on 3 things I’ve noticed about the changing role of the Educational/Learning Technologist in those 25 years. And the Loch Ness Monster.
Gasta 4: Donna Lanclos
Donna Lanclos is an anthropologist. That’s a lot of what you need to know right there
Gasta 5: Leo Havemann
