The #altc Blog publishes short, topical entries to help keep us all up to date with developments in learning technology, and provides an opportunity for discussion.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contributing to the blog gives you the opportunity to disseminate your work, share something you are excited about, explore a common problem, or express an opinion. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can submit?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Any ALT (Associate, Individual, Certified or Organisational) member, in good standing, can submit to the blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>What sort of posts can I contribute?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Entries can be text-based (usually 500-1,000 words) or use other media, so please consider a video post or supplementing your written post with video, images or audio.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome podcasts, vlogs, audio or video posts. These posts work well for demos or narrative posts. If you prefer to create visual rather than written content, consider a vlog or podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your contribution should fall into one of the following suggested categories:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A review or reflection e.g. of software, a book or other publication, a conference or event, or a course<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A project report e.g. a summary of a research, implementation or development project with links to further information<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A case study e.g. an account of your department or institution\u2019s experiences implementing a  technology<\/span>, policy or process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A summary of a discussion. Use illustrations and different media as appropriate. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please bear in mind:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Our audience<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Talk directly to the ALT community &#8211; be conversational, keep it brief, and pick a title that will draw in readers.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Explain technical terminology, acronyms and avoid jargon and local colloquialisms.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If appropriate, engage the community in discussion and comment. Raise questions to encourage readers to contribute using comments.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Consider ethical issues associated with sharing information online.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What works online<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Write concisely, using simple language<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start with a summary, then expand on this<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use short sections and subheadings<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use bullet lists and illustrations (jpeg, png or gif less than 4Mb)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Respect copyright (use Creative Commons where possible)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use bold or italics for emphasis<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avoid speech marks<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Link to other materials using the name of the resources (e.g. &#8216;see the project final report&#8217;). A couple of references in Harvard style can be included, if appropriate<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vvideo and audio posts, such as podcasts and vlogs, must be accompanied by a written transcript and accurate closed caption file e.g. vtt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please provide some tags\/keywords to help readers search the archives. These should include:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">your name<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">your institution<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the name of any books\/conferences\/projects\/groups referred to<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">key words and phrases.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>How do I submit my post?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please send a draft contribution to <a href=\"mailto:blog@alt.ac.uk\">blog@alt.ac.uk<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of our Editors will contact you to discuss any changes.
