I gained experience with my first branching scenario activity, which was to educate creators on licensing their work. Using <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=https*3a*2f*2ftwinery.org*2f&amp;c=E,1,bIjkOaoREE0HVWVtqR2WqrH6tO963aN2MDHlsaoYMr1c48TXOeEV9NBsS2ywQxXid9SYhewV15WbMNHG8ySla0cX3IJdRl6TjKaJYVoKjH8oNNb2QzRuveM,&amp;typo=1__;JSUlJQ!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X4NOfSC-U$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twine<\/a>, I developed an appetite for coding and stretched my skills by learning to build my <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=https*3a*2f*2fericalevi.coventry.domains*2f&amp;c=E,1,2jl2C7QRTKC8fP_TbvBRv8D07Bjk7afQMG9LfolzyjCdIZRZ9Dn8wYaBNq3lrgYVZ4txXlw8tewT-SF8TNJZ-fw_iB9Z4Ypr0ayG_d5c&amp;typo=1__;JSUlJQ!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X4fYAbsAk$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> using HTML.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E172\">The Lord Schism\u2019s second game engages players in a new fantasy adventure in the land of Eryl. As with the previous game, it allows them to choose how to interact with the story and its characters, dictating their success in the mission while enhancing their understanding of copyright. I authored the story, and Ann worked out the tricky bits of coding and accessibility and chipped in with some ideas for the characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E177\">The plot in the new episode is that the resistance has discovered access to a secret portal to a mystical land, the Land of Eryl. Players are elite members who must secure it from the villain Lord Schism\u2019s attacks. Everything in the game is rich in allegories, alliterations, quirks, and jokes. No spoilers but think of the very word Eryl. Apart from clearly being my names mashed together, it means \u2018a place where people look for knowledge,\u2019 and it is of Welsh origin, meaning watcher or lookout. Even the herald of the land is a heather, which is an Ericaceous plant.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E190\">While I was keen to keep the game as a single episode, it soon became apparent that the topics were vast, so I had to split the game into three topical parts\u2014no spoilers. It was great fun to plot the story together with Ann.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E202\"><strong>Accessibility and inclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E204\"><strong>Ann:<\/strong> I was instrumental in adding some features, including diversity, and increasing accessibility by adding alt tags to foster gameplay rather than as a description and improving readability. Narrative games present additional challenges to accessibility and inclusivity. I also reviewed the inclusivity of language: did the game promote an able-bodied experience through its action verbs; did it describe the game world in an accessible way? I looked at <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=https*3a*2f*2faccessibility.iftechfoundation.org*2f&amp;c=E,1,dPJu03GlmUB4Ceq8zIt-z86xQaGpMCXFKc6uFWOStvOWFD7fYi7uL05XWiOSeJz_FKn__c9hjYGZE95q1zowj1seEVBZdBYuWdemoK_MeiGrjjEKqJg,&amp;typo=1__;JSUlJQ!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X47ljdbaY$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">narrative game accessibility<\/a> and captions\/audio descriptions for television and film for guidance, as well as broader <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=https*3a*2f*2fwebaim.org*2farticles*2f&amp;c=E,1,wWtLB2toQIa4AaoBnK3ACihHNcFOJDbemRramqUOw-6s1MRoiLmG6WwpNyc2pRGlLZXUCb7sTNq4sDSEnFwLwuU8V7tub3doZInmXq7RAtF0JvUG1cNchHcAY4E,&amp;typo=1__;JSUlJSU!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X4Gw-0oSw$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WebAim<\/a> guidance and the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=https*3a*2f*2fwww.ifarchive.org*2fif-archive*2finfo*2fCraft.Of.Adventure.pdf&amp;c=E,1,Ef_N5EiK83lzbIIEG5mMXgGaKXy6Zv0hcCO1GxMp_I_gHdlvqkU7LvzQK5bSoxUq92HrneUIIMhubvx8P6fSeCgdaVe0-88zdsqL4lIRf3W-jgnDj29C1Vjk&amp;typo=1__;JSUlJSUl!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X4XkG7IrU$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Player\u2019s Bill of Rights.<\/a> Accessibility is still a work in progress as I aim to explore <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/link.springer.com\/chapter\/10.1007\/978-3-031-22298-6_37__;!!K7l7YuZ3_aFnun0eduI!lvM4INkNFDK65YywI1J7wG1WWxsiHeZUFKbFajLeK9cNLlQ4s2-vPkD_Kw3FnpzZr1v7RXrUzQM9Tdlbj6X44YQBEeM$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twine screen reader support<\/a>, which is a problematic area for Twine. I also explored the use of AI to create characters and ALT tags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E234\"><strong>Images<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E236\">Many images resulted from our experimentation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/firefly.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adobe Firefly<\/a> and its AI capability (part of Adobe Express), which uses licensed images from its collections. We accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/uk\/express\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adobe Express<\/a> via our institutional licence via a Jisc agreement. The sounds are mainly Public<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Domain from <a href=\"https:\/\/freesound.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FreeSound<\/a>.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E250\">As a final note, Erica has deepened her appreciation of Adobe Photoshop and Audition, and is grateful for the help provided by media producer colleagues and another as a coding guru. They relieved us of some frustrations.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E264\">Now, it is up to you to play the three episodes of the Lord Schism saga.
