{"id":1918,"date":"2012-09-07T13:05:23","date_gmt":"2012-09-07T13:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsletter.alt.ac.uk\/?p=1918"},"modified":"2012-09-07T13:05:23","modified_gmt":"2012-09-07T13:05:23","slug":"sig-update-inclusive-learning-special-interest-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/2012\/09\/sig-update-inclusive-learning-special-interest-group\/","title":{"rendered":"SIG Update: Inclusive Learning Special Interest Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ALT, in collaboration with JISC TechDis, established a new Inclusive Learning Special Interest Group (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/get-involved\/special-interest-groups-0\">ILSIG<\/a>) in March 2011. To date the group has 55 members from a range of sectors, including HE, FE, Independent Specialist Colleges, schools and business, together with international representation from Europe and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The remit of the group is to:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discover and share evidence and experiential practice in the area of inclusive learning (meeting the needs of all learners);<\/li>\n<li>Highlight the day-to-day experience of those using assistive technologies for the benefit of the practitioners who use or develop solutions;<\/li>\n<li>Provide a forum for discussion and collaboration of the use of appropriate technologies and practices to support the development of inclusive solutions in the ALT community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communication is via JISC Mail and quarterly webinars. This will be one of our main foci for the short term future.<\/p>\n<p>ILSIG members can take advantage of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/assets_editor_uploads\/documents\/cmalt_initiative_techdis_v2_20100901.pdf\">JISC TechDis CMALT Scheme<\/a> which allows them to register for CMALT at a greatly reduced price.
