It also aims to foster engagement and collaboration, promote research, reward excellence and promote Irish and international evidence-based policy and practice.<\/p>\n<p>ALT works to promote research, influence policy and improve practise in learning technology.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of scope for collaboration and networking between ALT and ILTA &#8211; with both organisations undertaking similar activities in different regions of the UK. Some of these activities include: managing online, peer-reviewed, open access journals (ILTA: <a href=\"http:\/\/journal.ilta.ie\/\">TEL Ireland Journal<\/a>; ALT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchinlearningtechnology.net\/index.php\/rlt\">Research in Learning Technology<\/a>); organising annual conferences (ILTA: <a href=\"http:\/\/ilta.ie\/edtech-conferences\/\">EdTech <\/a>; ALT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/altc\">altc<\/a>); providing awards for innovation (ILTA with Dublin City University: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jenniferburkeaward.ie\/\">Jennifer Burke Award for Innovation in Teaching and Learning<\/a>; ALT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/get-involved\/awards\">Learning Technologist of the Year Award and Special Award for Learners<\/a>); and representing members nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>ALT looks forward working with ILTA through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">influencing and help shape policy on the government\u2019s learning technology agenda;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">enhancing relationships on issues on which the two associations have common interests;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">sharing information on technology for learning;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">offering reciprocal organisational or sponsoring membership to one another;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">running joint events on areas of shared interest;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">collaborating on joint projects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Pictured: ILTA Chair (Paul Gormley) and ALT Chief Executive (Dr Maren Deepwell) signing the MOU<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow on Twitter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">@A_L_T \/ #altc<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">@ILTAtweets<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Association for Learning Technology (ALT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA) on 5th March 2014.
