{"id":3500,"date":"2014-03-07T14:21:38","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T14:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsletter.alt.ac.uk\/?p=3500"},"modified":"2014-03-07T14:21:38","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T14:21:38","slug":"alt-celebrates-open-education-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/2014\/03\/alt-celebrates-open-education-week\/","title":{"rendered":"ALT celebrates Open Education Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Open Education Week takes place from 10 to 15 March 2014 \u201cto raise awareness about free and open educational opportunities that exist for everyone, everywhere, right now\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openeducationweek.org\/\">http:\/\/www.openeducationweek.org\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The Association\u00a0 has an active Special Interest Group which focuses on Open Education where ALT members and others share experiences and develop thinking about using Open Education principles most effectively for the benefit of learners.<\/p>\n<p>Join the Open Education\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jiscmail.ac.uk\/cgi-bin\/webadmin?A2=OPENEDSIG;cd77b9b.1309\">Special Interest Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ALT welcomes and supports Open Education Week. On 13 Mar 2014, we are running a free webinar that will draw on the wide experience of ALT&#8217;s members in developing open education.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/civicrm\/event\/info?reset=1&amp;id=97\">Register here<\/a>. #altoer<\/p>\n<p>We are also planning to run another Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) later this year: the open course in technology enhanced learning (<a href=\"http:\/\/octel.alt.ac.uk\/\">ocTEL<\/a>).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/events\/octel-register-your-interest-2014-course\">Register\u00a0<\/a>your interest in the 2014 course.<\/p>\n<p>Other ALT activities that support the open education movement include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchinlearningtechnology.net\/index.php\/rlt\">Research in Learning Technology\u00a0<\/a>&#8211; ALT&#8217;s open access journal<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/ClipsFromALT\">ALT Annual conference YouTube\u00a0<\/a>recordings and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/events\">free webinars\u00a0<\/a>in learning, teaching and technology<\/li>\n<li>ALT also supports\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/oer14.org\/\">OER14<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; this year&#8217;s national conference on open education due to take place in Newcastle 28 &#8211; 29 April.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ALT also contributes to the development of the UK\u2019s open access policy.
