{"id":4223,"date":"2014-09-25T10:46:11","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T10:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsletter.alt.ac.uk\/?p=4223"},"modified":"2014-09-25T10:46:11","modified_gmt":"2014-09-25T10:46:11","slug":"learning-technologist-of-the-year-2014-runner-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/2014\/09\/learning-technologist-of-the-year-2014-runner-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Technologist of the Year 2014 &#8211; Runner Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DigiLit Leicester Project Team won the joint runner up for the Learning Technologist of the Year Team Award 2014<\/p>\n<p>DigiLit Leicester: supporting school staff, promoting digital literacy, transforming learning.<\/p>\n<p>#digilitleic is a two year collaboration between Leicester City Council, De Montfort University and 23 city secondary and specialist education schools, running from September 2012-2014. The core project team are <strong>Lucy Atkins<\/strong>, <strong>Josie Fraser<\/strong> and <strong>Richard Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The project takes a situated approach to digital literacy, working with 1,780 staff who support learners across the city: school leaders, teachers, classroom assistants and library staff. The project models and promotes open educational approaches, and supports teacher agency and collegiality through pedagogically grounded self-evaluation. It identifies and addresses strengths and gaps at individual, whole school and city wide level.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4231 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal2.jpg?resize=603%2C107&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"digilitfinal2\" width=\"603\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal2.jpg?w=603&amp;ssl=1 603w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal2.jpg?resize=300%2C53&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <em>DigiLit Leicester<\/em> framework was developed in consultation with schools and staff. The framework identifies and defines six key strands of digital literacy for secondary school staff: <em>Finding, Evaluating and Organising; Creating and Sharing; Assessment and Feedback; Communication, Collaboration and Participation; E-Safety and Online Identity; Technology supported Professional Development.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The framework was used to create an online survey, which was carried out in both 2013 and 2014. 450 staff (25% of the cohort) completed the survey in 2013, and 701 staff completed the survey in 2014 (39%). 209 staff members completed the survey in both years, making total of 942 staff who have engaged with the project survey.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4230 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal1.jpg?resize=603%2C78&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"digilitfinal1\" width=\"603\" height=\"78\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal1.jpg?w=603&amp;ssl=1 603w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1112\/2014\/09\/digilitfinal1.jpg?resize=300%2C39&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Impact<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The project has established a significant cultural change in its approach to the use of technology to support learning, teaching and community development, and created a shared understanding of how digital literacy relates to professional practice.<\/li>\n<li>All 23 BSF schools have engaged with the project, developing relationships, collaborating, and sharing practice and resources.
