Dear Members of ALT,<\/span><\/h3>\n

This time of year, when many are getting ready for a well deserved break, is the busiest time for the Association as we prepare for our<\/span> Annual Conference<\/span><\/a> in September. It\u2019s not just our largest annual event but also includes the Annual General Meeting for the Association and the coming together of many of our<\/span> Members\u2019 and Special Interest Groups<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a lot going on across the Association, here are some key developments to look out for:<\/span><\/p>\n

Trustee Elections and AGM 2016<\/span><\/h3>\n

Ahead of this year\u2019s AGM on 7 September we will be holding elections for Trustee vacancies. Members will receive voting information via email and should look out for further information being published on the<\/span> ALT website<\/span><\/a> and in the weekly news digest. We are looking to introduce a new digital voting process this year alongside streaming the AGM live online as has become established in the last few years. As usual all Members are welcome to attend the AGM regardless of whether they are attending the Annual Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next ALT strategy<\/span><\/h3>\n

ALT will be launching its<\/span> next strategy<\/span><\/a>, for 2017-2020, in February 2017. Following December\u2019s <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>update for members<\/span><\/a> , the consultation process on the new strategy is underway, including the<\/span> symposium<\/span><\/a> on Learning Technology in Higher and Further Education hosted at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in May. ALT’s Operational Committees will meet for a strategy day in October and this year’s Annual Survey will be expanded to include a section on the new strategy. In the meantime, we have set up this<\/span> ‘suggestion box’<\/span><\/a> which enables anyone to make a suggestion for the next strategy, including any new membership services or benefits we should consider, strategic priorities or personal reflections. Your input will help inform the consultation process and we are grateful for your suggestions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating 10 years of the Learning Technologist of the Year Awards<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Awards will be presented at ALT\u2019s Annual Conference on the evening of 7th September 2016 at the University of Warwick, UK. Following a competitive selection process all short-listed entries will be announced in August with public voting for the Community Choice Award opening ahead of the Annual Conference. We\u2019ve also put together a<\/span> list of all previous winners<\/span><\/a> from the last 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Growing new initiative to share CMALT portfolios<\/span><\/h3>\n

I also want to highlight a new CMALT initiative to enhance the CMALT Holders register with a growing list of portfolios shared by Certified Members. You can now browse for portfolios by sector or specialism. Members (including CMALT candidates) will need to be<\/span> logged in<\/span><\/a> to the ALT site as a member to view the<\/span> list of shared portfolios<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Together with my colleagues from the staff team I enjoyed a development day earlier this month, providing us with a rare opportunity to spend time together away from our desks.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also helps us prepare to welcome many of ALT\u2019s Members in<\/span> Warwick and online<\/span><\/a> in September – and we look forward to seeing you at #altc.<\/span><\/p>\n
