However, new research is revealing that our experience of covid 19 may in fact be very different. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have invited scholars to share their findings with us in order to help us to better understand how this crisis may be deepening pre-existing inequalities and possibly creating new divisions. There is much to learn about how we need to protect our communities from the negative impacts of  this virus and of the need for better, more informed, humaine decision making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/ioe\/\" target=\"_blank\">Institute of Education at UCL<\/a> Allison Littlejohn, Jen Rode and<br>Eileen Kennedy will share with us how existing structural inequalities have been exacerbated and provide steps universities could take to try to reduce these. They will draw upon the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/ioe\/departments-and-centres\/centres\/ucl-knowledge-lab\/research\/ucl-moving-online-teaching-and-homeworking-moth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MOTH study<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joining us from the USA, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.donnalanclos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Donna Lanclos<\/a>  will report on research results from a recent project about University practices during the pandemic emergency, especially the impact on women and people with caregiving responsibilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also be joined by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/femedtech\" target=\"_blank\">@femedtech<\/a> and Frances Bell will share an update on their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/femedtech.net\/published\/open-letter-to-editors-editorial-boards\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Letter to Editors<\/a> and their call to action.
