{"id":7901,"date":"2021-06-07T14:37:32","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/elesig\/?p=7901"},"modified":"2023-01-05T14:43:15","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T14:43:15","slug":"alt-elesig-the-scale-up-challenge-simulation-for-authentic-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/altc.alt.ac.uk\/blog\/2021\/06\/alt-elesig-the-scale-up-challenge-simulation-for-authentic-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"ALT ELESIG: The \u2018Scale up challenge\u2019: simulation for authentic learning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last month we were joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/staffprofiles.bournemouth.ac.uk\/display\/dholley\">Debbie Holley,<\/a> Professor of Learning Innovation, and <a href=\"https:\/\/staffprofiles.bournemouth.ac.uk\/display\/hsingleton\">Dr Heidi Singleton<\/a> Department of Nursing Sciences, from Bournemouth University. <br \/><br \/>The challenges of embedding digital technologies in learning, teaching and assessment are complex, and rethinking the roles of educators has been at the foreground of recent Educause New Horizon expert panel reports. The most recent Jisc Student digital experience insights survey (2020) report highlighted that only 20% of students have experiences of simulation. The challenges of scale seem insurmountable \u2013 however, in this session Debbie and Heidi suggested some low-tech solutions, and invited participants to come along bringing their mobile phones and a google cardboard headset.
