Description
The physiotherapy team at the University of Liverpool is developing the use of an iPad App to support students on clinical placements. The App allows students to record feedback from clinical educators and the data to be accessed by the teaching team back at the university. The collected data also provides students with an evidence to set weekly objectives. The App was originally developed by the School of Dentistry to support clinical skills development.
The physiotherapy placements at Liverpool are based on a hub and spoke model. Over the course of each placement students are supported by several clinical educators. The use of the App has increased the amount of feedback students’ receive, the timing of the feedback and the value of the feedback to both students and the teaching team back at the university.
This presentation will report on the findings of pilot studies so far and discuss the challenges of moving from an established paper-based system to a paperless App system.
