Description
This Edit-a-thon session will look at gathering together resources to contribute to a Digital Capability Toolkit designed to support students, staff and external partners (like employers, international collaborative partners and others) to find resources to develop their digital capabilities. The University of Derby has created an open WordPress site where these resources will be hosted and categorised based on the 6 elements of digital capability identified by Jisc (2015). It is hoped that once students, staff and external partners have reflected upon their digital capabilities they will then be able to find resources to develop their skills further in the areas where they lack confidence, skills knowledge and understanding.
We ask participants to edit a Google Document to gather further open resources together, contextualising the resources so users can understand how they could benefit from using the resource, identifying their relevance to staff, students or external partners and categorising them under the 6 digital capability elements. The resources gathered here will then be added to the Digital Capability Toolkit making them available to all users of the site. Participants will then be notified when this has taken place so they can see their contributions on the site.
