Description
South Cheshire College / West Cheshire College is a recently merged FE College in North West England. The webinar will focus on the use of Class Notebook to provide a collaborative space for teaching and learning.
Case study examples will be provided on the use of Class Notebook by both FE provision (Deaf Studies, Level 3 Electrical Installation, Level 3 Health Science) and an HE in FE course (PgCE/CertEd).
Each Class Notebook has a collaborative space that teachers and all students can view, edit and contribute to. Each learner has their own section in the Notebook that is shared with their teachers and used for submission of formative assessments or feedback on work. There is a content library that students can view but not edit, this is used to share course handbooks, assignment briefs and anything that students need access to but must not change. Students are able to copy pages from the content library into the collaborative area or their own sections of the Notebook.. Each space has sub sections and each section can have a number of pages. Pages can be easily copied from one section or space to another.
Session resources, outputs from group work and examples of learners’ work can be easily added to any section of the Notebook during the session using the OneNote App on phones or tablet devices. This enables photographs to be uploaded into the Notebook directly from the camera or camera roll / picture gallery. Pages can be displayed on the class data projector during the session. Learners are also able to add information outside of lessons and when on work placement.
In practical sessions learners upload photographs of their work, they can then self-assess, gain feedback from their tutors or if posted into the collaborative space can receive peer feedback.
