Description
The Student Digital Experience Tracker is a survey and student engagement process designed to help organisations learn more about the experience of their digital learners. Run by Jisc, the Student digital experience tracker has over 140 universities and major colleges signed up to participate this year. The Student digital experience tracker allows organisations to:
- gather evidence from learners about their digital experience, and track changes over time
- make better informed decisions about the digital environment, digital strategy, and digital investments
- benchmark against others in their sector
- plan further research, data gathering and student engagement around digital issues
- demonstrate quality enhancement
This year for the first time participating organisations are being asked for some contextualising information to help interpret the findings from their students. In the space of just ten questions they describe their: digital learning strategy, VLE environment, investment in TEL teams, CPD for teaching staff, Bring Your Own Device policies, and more. Jisc is now developing a third data-collection strand to set aside the student and organisational perspectives. This will ask teaching staff about their experiences of the digital environment, and the support they receive in their role as digital educators.
Participants at this session will help to develop a suite of questions for staff. As with the questions for organisational leads, the starting point will be research into factors that may contribute to the student digital experience. This research will be openly shared. Participants will also be able to have a go at the ten organisational questions and hear about their development (and some early data returns). So as well as helping to build the last piece in the Student digital experience tracker data jigsaw, participants will benefit from a deeper understanding of the research behind the project, and from sharing ideas about the student digital experience with other experts in the ALT community.
