Description
This session will explore how to improve an assignment that uses VoiceThread. The VoiceThread assignment is currently designed to be used asynchronously to asses each students ability to identify the stages of early childhood development using multimedia while also actively engaging students.
Students currently use VoiceThread to view images and videos and the comment and doodle tools to support their assessment of the stage of early childhood development that is portrayed. The Instructor engages with each student in identifying stages of social development and corresponding behavioral characteristics with an emphasis on social development.
Learning objectives for the assignment:
Use VoiceThread to identify stages of social development and behavioral characteristics found in children under five years old to understand the importance of social development in the process of forming social relationships.
Demonstrate how VoiceThread can be used to facilitate discussion and discourse about early childhood development and social relationships.
Facilitators: Margaret Krone M.S. and Marcie Savoie M.Ed.
Editing: Join us to further clarify instructions, assess the quality of the media used, increase engagement, and reflect on the extent to which this assignment improves understanding of social development in early childhood and our ability for critical reflection.
