Description
If there is one point of agreement in the learning technologies sphere, it is pedagogy needs to come first. It is almost a truism that the most successful innovations are those that are pedagogy-driven. But can we assume that we all mean the same thing when we talk about ‘pedagogy first’. When we look under the surface of pedagogy-driven innitiatives, we often find quite different perspectives on teaching and learning.
This webinar will adress this question by comparing axes of agreement and disagreement looking back at the history of pedagogic change. Most specifically, it will discuss questions such as:
- Do we subscribe to the same theory of learning and knowledge?
- Is instructional design pedagogy?
- How do our tools such as VLEs, PPT, room layout shape our pedagogy?
- Are the pedagogic intentions always replicated in practice?
In conclusion, the session will then ask whether we need to revisit and revise Dewey’s Pedagogic Creed for the digital age and even whether each learning technology project or even each learning technologist should start by compiling their own Digital Pedagogy Creed.
