Stephanie Aldred is an education developer in the University Teaching Academy at Manchester Metropolitan University. Until 2004 she worked as a teacher, trainer and resource developer in the field of English for Speakers of Other Languages, including working for three years at the University of Naples, Italy, and as a trainer in HE institutions in Japan, Germany and Scandinavia. She moved back to UK and worked for four years as a teacher of Italian at the University of Manchester.
She joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008 to lead the General and Academic English provision for international students, and later co-ordinated the University-wide modern languages provision. Her main interest today is in fostering effective learning and teaching across the institution, engaging in workshops, developmental observation and professional dialogue with colleagues. She is also active in working with students as partners, facilitating the inter-faculty student observation of teaching scheme.
