Description
When migrating from a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that has been embedded in a University for well over a decade to implement a Next-Gen VLE that offers huge potential for transforming the learning and teaching experiences of staff and students alike, the stakes are high. Project stakeholder groups are wide and varied and include students, academic staff, administrative staff such as student registration officers, learning development officers and finance officers, as well as IT staff, and, of course, University management. Each group has different expectations of, and from, a project such as this, as well as a different understanding of what a successful project should look like. How effectively those responsible for leading the project manages these expectations by communicating with, and listening to, these different stakeholders is a vital part of the project, especially when the project outcomes will impact the working lives of so many people. This session will focus on how one University in Ireland ‘managed management’ specifically, ensuring the buy-in and support for the project from this particularly important stakeholder group. Lessons learned will be highlighted and the next steps to this research outlined.
