Reasons to attend OER23

We are proud that the 14th annual conference for Open Education research, practice and policy will be hosted by UHI, the University of the Highlands and Islands. We hope you will join us! Here’s why:

Hybrid Networking

We welcome 150-200 participants a year, and our committee in 2023 has over 80 members. In the run up to the conference we use a dedicated Discord server to start to the conversation and foster connections between participants, speakers and committee members. As soon as you register you are invited to join the Discord server, so you can start networking well ahead of the event.

Discover new ideas to spark collaboration

This year’s theme is Advancing open education practices. You will be able to explore the conference themes through workshops, keynote sessions and plenty of time and space set aside for impromptu conversations throughout the conference.

Great speakers

Most participants at OER are speakers, too, contributing actively to the conference programme, resulting in a rich discussion that includes many different voices.

Connect with the Global OER Graduate Network

We are proud to partner with the GO-GN Global OER Graduate Network, connecting emerging researchers and a global perspective with local and national knowledge.

What do other participants say about the OER Conference?

Many participants return to the conference year after year. Here’s why:

“There was such a sense of generosity, care, joy, and humanity embedded in every element of the conference.”

“The thematic organization was exceptional and the level of care in the conference support for presenters will set the bar by which all future hybrid conferences will be measured.”

“It was a wonderful event, thank you a lot!!”
