EMLT – Spring 2017
Our spring meeting of the East Midlands Learning Technologists group is due to take place on Wednesday 5th April 2017, 12:00-16:00, University of Derby.
Universal Design: How learning technology can support inclusive learning and teaching
Ensuring equal access to learning opportunities is a priority for all educators. This is a key area for all learning technologists to be aware of, as technology can provide many benefits but if used incorrectly can also create barriers to learning.
During the event we would like to explore how simple approaches as well as strategic initiatives can be taken to improve access to learning opportunities through the use of learning technology. This theme is relevant to all sectors but is currently particularly relevant for the Higher Education sector as reductions in government funding for the Disabled Student Allowance require institutions to take more responsibility in ensuring inclusive learning and teaching practices are embedded in the curriculum.
Call for presentations
We’d still like some short presentations from our community – 5 minute – where you tell us about the approaches you have taken using technologies to support equal access to education, so please complete the form if you’re happy to present.
